How I restored my damaged hair!

I’ve recently changed back to my natural hair colour after dying my hair blonde for the past 2 years.

As much as I loved being blonde, I couldn’t handle my hair anymore. I had to retouch my roots every 3-4 weeks, my hair became brittle and drier until I started experiencing thinner hair and breakage. The quickest solution for me was to go back to my natural hair colour and give my hair a break from all the chemicals and heating.

That’s how my journey to healthier hair started. I spent hours researching and reading reviews on miracle hair products that would bring back my shiny hair.

I started with MorrocanOil Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner but it wasn’t what I needed. Using the shampoo would leave my hair very dry, straw like that I had to use double the amount of conditioner to make it more manageable. After conditioning it was definitely softer and easier to style but it wasn’t what my hair needed.

At the same time, I purchased the MorrocanOil Restorative Hair Mask who supposedly in 7 minutes will reconstruct and infuse protein back into strands that have been damaged by chemical treatments or heat styling. I found that to be somewhat false, as I did not experience my hair to be “reconstructed” whatsoever. I did find it hydrating and left my hair soft and easy to manage but I would not repurchase.

On the other hand, the MorrocanOil Treatment is a beautiful oil that I repurchased over the years and yet not found a hair oil that good to substitute this one. I use it in many different ways, when colouring my hair, before and after styling and you can use this as a mask before washing your hair! It is truly amazing and you only need a teeny tiny amount as a little bit goes a long way.

Next on my list was Kerastase Resistance Therapiste Masque, which is a butter-textured mask that deeply penetrates the hair to restore strength and boost elasticity. I found this mask to be good for when my hair was at its worst. You just need to play around with the amount as I found it to be a bit tricky; the first time I used it I applied way too much and my roots were flat and my hair was left very greasy feeling. The smell is amazing and also I didn’t need to use my leave-in products when I used this. I don’t use it anymore as my hair is in a better condition but I do recommend it to my friends and family who struggled with damaged hair as well.

Around 2 months ago, I came across the brand Living Proof, they claimed their Restore System is proven to make your hair 20x stronger in just 2 weeks! I thought that’s just crazy but still decided to try it out for myself!

I immediately went to my local SPACE NK Apothecary and purchased the Restore Shampoo and Conditioner, Restore Repair Leave-in and the mini Restore Mask Treatment.

Upon first use I did notice how different the Restore Shampoo felt in my hair, how soft and manageable it was without a conditioner!

Before styling, I apply a small amount of Perfect Hair Day 5-in-1 Styling Treatment and I love how smooth my hair is after blow-drying.

Once a week I apply the Restore Mask Treatment, leaving it on my hair for around 30 min. The results are fantastic! This is the first mask I came across that actually delivers what it claims to do! There are no silicones, parabens or any other bad ingredients that harm your hair on the long run. It is also colour safe!

Current Beauty Favorites

All my favorite beauty products.

Those of you who have known me for a while may know I have a little obsession with make-up, so what a better way to share my current favorites with you guys!

My go-to look is always a very glowy base and natural eye look. I don’t use a lot of colours most of the time so my make-up looks the same.

In the past 2 years I have been testing so many foundations, primers, bronzers etc and I can finally know what I want from a product in terms of blendability, pigmentation and so on.

I can now say I am happy with how my routine looks like and this works for me all the time!
And I do have sensitive skin so I need to pay extra attention to ingredients and I found that high end products just work better. For me it is worth the extra cost to keep my skin clear.

1. Guerlain L’or Radiance Concentrate with Pure Gold Make- up Base it’s a gel like primer, very lightweight and once blended into the skin the gold flakes disappear, leaves your skin very plumped, gives a very healthy glow to your skin and although I do not notice any firming effect (I am only 24yrs old though) I love how all my make-up is locked into place for hours and keeps my oils at bay! Also, a pump is more than enough for all my face, so I this will last for ages!

2. YSL All Hours Foundation is a full coverage, matte foundation that lasts so good on my skin type (normal with oily t-zone). I usually have so many issues with foundations separating on my very oily T-zone but this one doesn’t budge! I don’t think it has a matte finish as advertised but more like natural finish. It covers all my pigmentation and dark spots really well and it does give me a flawless base. My hubby always compliments my make-up when I wear it, sooo… that must mean something!

3. Nars Soft Matte Complete Concelear it’s the most creamiest and full coverage concealer I’ve ever tried! I love using it to spot conceal and also under my eyes as it doesn’t crease or look cakey at all.
I use the shade Ginger as it’s a perfect match to my foundation and I don’t like a highlighted undereye anyway.

4. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light is the most perfect finishing powder! All Hourglass powders are finelly milled, silky soft, don’t settle into pores or fine lines or exagerate dry patches. I am impressed by the quality of the powder and plan to purchase more shades soon!

5. Hourglass Ambient Bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light, before trying out this bronzer, I used to love my Guerlain Terracotta bronzer so much. I didn’t even believe the hype around this bronzer until I finally bit the bullet and tried it. And I am so happy that I did. There hasn’t been a day without this amazing baby, it blends so beautifuly and easy and it leaves the nicest healthy bronze glow. The packaging is so luxurious and sturdy and you get a lot of product for the cost. I do think it is the best purchase I have made makeup wise. Can’t recommend it enough.

6. Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara has been the mascara I reached for most of the time, mostly because it doesn’t transfer to my upper eyelid. I do have quite oily eyelids so by the end of the day I look like a racoon with mascara everywhere! It is not a pretty look, I must say haha. I am always in the haunt for voluminous mascaras that don’t clump so if you have any suggestions, please leave a comment below!

7. Dior Lip Glow in shade 001 it’s a must have for everyday use! It is hydrating and the sheer tint gives the ultimate “my lips but better” look.
